***************BREAKING NEWS***************
Through one of the websites I use for researching our family history, I have been in touch with another relative of ours, Andy Heather. Andy is descended from Grandma Lock's brother, Charles Walker. He was able to confirm that Grandma Lock did in fact change her name from Sarah to Elizabeth.....something I had suspected but hadn't been able to prove. Andy has let me have a look at his tree which has helped fill in a few blanks, and I have added a few more names to this site. He has also sent me a few photos which I hope to add to this site when I've got my thinking head on!
I have also got some more information for the Foster branch which I will add at a later date.

Hello to all you Greenley/Lock descendants out there. If you have logged on here hoping to find tales of wealth, hidden fortunes and famous ancestors, then
I'm sorry to disappoint you! We come from a long line of poor Agricultural Labourers with the odd Publican thrown in.
I became interested in tracing my roots when Julie showed me a copy of Grandma's book, From Country Life to Town. I photocopied the book so that I could read it at my leisure, and so that I would have something to remember Grandma by that gave me an insight into her life. Little did I realise that it would lead to a life of traipsing round graveyards and sitting in dusty archives for hours on end. Little did my family realise that it would lead to burnt meals, no clean, ironed clothes and being bored to death by stories of long ago.
On the bright side, I am in touch with 3 relatives in the USA. Scott, my 5th cousin (we share the same 4x great Grandfather), has supplied me with a wealth of information from his side of the Atlantic. I am also in contact with my second cousin, Debbie, who is the Grandaughter of Minnie Lock. Isn't the internet brilliant!
I have had the most success with the Greenley side of things as they have been more or less Yorkshire based. The Lock side has proved more difficult and will probably have to go on the back burner until I have the time to travel down to Hertfordshire. My quest for information is by no means over though, and I hope to keep updating this site regularly.
I hope you enjoy looking through the information I have found (try the Ahnentafel Report in the drop down menu under Tree, and see if you can find yourself in the photo albums). If you have any
queries or suggestions, please leave a message in the Guest Book.
